Forums, blogs and communities create a kind of collective memory for shoppers. Smaller shops can be surprisingly friendly if they care about repeat customers. Sometimes I experiment with different materials just to see how they feel in daily life. Otherwise they become clutter in the closet after the trend is over.

Good packaging and a small storage bag are also nice touches for accessories. I also like when stores show real photos without heavy editing or strange angles. Very thin fabric may be fine for summer but often looks cheap and becomes see through. Trendy pieces are fun, but I only buy them when the price is reasonable. Cheap frames can look nice at first but bend easily or become loose after a few weeks. The main things I look at for glasses are frame weight, hinge quality and lens coating.
